Allston, Massachusetts

The first of the Touchable Stories series, Allston, was a meeting ground for many people who had called Allston their home for generations, with an emphasis on newly arriving immigrant cultures, most notably from Russia and Brazil. A neighborhood with a history or urban renewal and fierce community pride, Allston taught us how to respectfully and effectively work in all the communities we would later come to know. Our work reminds us how much we continue to owe this determined and tough little community.

We are developing an archive of all five Touchable Stories projects created since 1997 and are excited about providing access to Touchable Stories for a regional and international audience. If you are interested in helping fund this development, please call 510 619-3675 or email
